Challenge
Design a mobile app that serves as a payment method to avoid long lines in supermarkets and retail chains.
Solution
We designed an app with an integrated checkout, functioning as a barcode scanner for products. This allows users to register their items at any time and pay with their credit card, eliminating the need to wait in long lines at supermarket or retail chain checkouts.
Design system
Defined the design system through design tokens to achieve scalability and consistency. As an added value to this project, I optimized the design system to include a dark mode version with just a few additional tokens.
A total of 268 tokens were created for both light and dark modes, along with 30 components and their respective variations.
Product
A total of 37 views were created to bring this app to life.
A high-fidelity prototype was also created to provide a clearer understanding of the functionalities. The entire user experience was designed with the goal of saving the user time and effort.
The first view facilitates the scanner option. As a quick payment method, the user can choose up to 10 products. To make the payment, the user can set up their credit cards and pay with any of them.
Upon completing the purchase, the user must show a token to the security guard to verify their purchase.
